Learning model: PhD and undergraduate literature review interaction
Allows undergraduates to read around areas of active PhD research which might actually help contribute towards the PhD work.
The model pairs a doctoral researcher with undergraduates who each survey a slice of the surrounding literature. The undergraduates gain a guided route into current research instead of a static reading list, and the PhD researcher gains a wider map of the field that can feed back into the thesis.
It is a small shift in how a reading task is framed, but it turns an assessment exercise into participation in live research. Discussions like this sit at the heart of what Students Beyond Grades records: study that becomes contribution.
